New Delhi: Accusing EC of show-causing Pawan Khera out of vendetta, Congress Wednesday said the poll watchdog did not do its duty of changing the address and the voting card of the party spokesman for eight years after an application for transfer was duly filed in 2017, and for which a receipt is with the applicant. It accused EC of "inapposite conduct".
AICC spokesman and lawyer Abhishek Singhvi chided EC by saying that if the poll watchdog could not check its records for two persons, Khera and his wife Kota Neelima, then "what will happen to Bihar records if such negligence takes place there... where EC is managing records of 8 crore electors".
Singhvi said Khera had filed for transfer of address on Aug 18, 2017, and EC issued him a showcause for having two voting cards after a gap of eight years. He said the notice made several imputations and innuendos, and had a defamatory tone. tnn
