While you may think you have the perfect cleaning routine for hardwood floors, you may actually be damaging them or making them dirtier. There are three big mistakes people make when it comes to their floors that could be causing more harm than good.
The experts at Edge Cleaning Service have taken to Instagram to share the three cleaning methods that should be avoided when it comes to wooden floors. Despite 99% of people making these mistakes, there are alternative ways to clean that will prevent damage. They began: "99% of people clean hardwood floors wrong, not only making them dirtier, but damaging them without knowing."
While one all-purpose spray may work on most surfaces in your home, it should not be used on wooden floors. Using an all-purpose spray rather than a wood-specific one can leave a sticky residue behind.
This residue can then lead to dust becoming stuck onto the floor or other kinds of damage.
Using too much mop waterWhile mopping may be a key step in cleaning your wooden floors, the experts highlight that many people are actually using too much.
The experts explain: "Soaking your mop in water and cleaning around with it is what most people do, but every time you do this, you're using too much water, and that can hurt your wood floors. Instead, use a microfiber mop."
Using too much cleaning solutionWhile it may be tempting to use a larger amount of cleaning solution, this doesn't actually help and is another reason you could end up with sticky residue over your floor that will attract even more dirt.
Instead, the pros suggest using a diluted cleaning solution of at least one part cleaner to 16 parts water in a spray bottle.
