Kemi Badenoch demanded that Sir Keir Starmer sack Rachel Reeves if the Chancellor raises taxes in the upcoming Budget. The Conservative leader made the call during a pre-Budget rally on the anniversary of last year's tax-hiking statement.
She said: "Our message is simple. If she puts up tax, give Reeves the axe. That last Budget was a disaster and after that she said she wasn't coming back for more.
"So Keir Starmer, you need to make sure that your Chancellor gets a grip. If she cannot get a grip on controlling spending, you need to sack her. Enough is enough."
It comes after the Prime Minister refused to rule out breaking Labour's manifesto pledge not to increase taxes for "working people" during a PMQs grilling on Wednesday.
