A young father who possessed a "heart of gold" and was "deeply loved" has tragically died after being stabbed in Manchester. Emergency crews rushed to reports of a knife attack at a property on Gilmerton Drive, Newton Heath, yesterday evening.

The victim, Kailem Reece Gibson, 28, was rushed to hospital for urgent medical care, but succumbed to his wounds this morning, devastating his heartbroken family.

Two men have been detained in connection with the incident and remain in police custody for questioning whilst Greater Manchester Police conduct a murder inquiry.

Following Kailem's tragic death, heartfelt tributes have poured in across social media platforms, with an online fundraising campaign launched to assist his family with funeral costs, reports the Mirror.

Kailem's relatives described him as a "deeply loved son, brother, father, boyfriend, nephew cousin and friend" who "touched the lives of everyone he met with his warm smile, kind spirit, and heart of gold."

The family penned a devastating statement released by GMP: "Always willing to lend a hand, Kailem had a gift for making others feel cared for and never hesitated to help anyone in need. He will be remembered not only for the love he gave so freely but also for the way he made life brighter for all those around him. His family and friends will forever cherish the moments shared, the laughter created, and the love he left behind.

"Though his time here was far too short, Kailem's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Forever 28 , forever loved, never forgotten."

A 35-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder. A 44-year-old man is also being held on suspicion of aiding an offender. Both were being interrogated by detectives on Saturday afternoon.

Following the incident, Chief Inspector Peter Crowe from GMP's City of Manchester district stated: "Two men have been swiftly arrested after a man was fatally stabbed last night on Gilmerton Drive. They remain in police custody for questioning.

"This morning, the victim has sadly died in hospital from his injuries. We send our deepest condolences to his loved ones, and they remain in our thoughts.

"We understand this tragic incident will have shaken our communities and we want to reassure people that we will not tolerate violence and use of weapons on our streets. We will not stop until we find offenders and bring them to justice.

"Our residents deserve to feel safe to go about their daily lives without fear. Over the following days the community will see an increased policing presence in this area; we will be out to offer support as they would rightly expect us to."
