A chilling incident from Delhi's Vasant Vihar has once again raised serious questions about victim safety. A rape survivor was shot in the chest on Wednesday by the very man she had accused of sexual assault last year—Ajubair Safi, who was recently out on bail.

Woman Shot Outside Salon, Now Hospitalized

The victim, who works as a head manager at a salon, was attacked by two men on a motorcycle near her workplace. One of them, Ajubair Safi, fired at her in public view. She sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Police Arrest Two Accused

Delhi Police have arrested Ajubair Safi and his accomplice Aman Sukhla. A case of attempted murder under IPC Section 307 and relevant provisions has been registered at Vasant Vihar Police Station. The weapon and the motorcycle used in the crime have also been recovered.

After being granted bail, he allegedly began stalking and trying to contact the woman, but she refused all communication. Enraged by the rejection and ongoing legal case, Ajubair plotted and executed the shooting, as he confessed during police interrogation. Surveillance and Swift Action

The police used CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and social media tracking to trace and arrest the culprits. Authorities confirmed that Ajubair planned the attack as an act of revenge against the woman for filing the rape complaint.

Renewed Concerns About Victim Safety

This brutal attack highlights the urgent need for stronger protection mechanisms for survivors of sexual assault, especially when the accused are released on bail. Legal experts and women’s rights groups are calling for swift justice and immediate reform to prevent such retaliatory crimes.
