The class ofLove Island 2025have given us some of the most gobsmacking moments in the show's history as viewers get ready for the finale tonight.
From bullying claims to toe-curling sex scenes, this series will go down as one of the most shocking yet, as the second most complained about Love Island series ever. Bagging the most complaints was the class of 2021, following the controversial Casa Amor postcard episode when viewers were left outragedafter a misleading photo suggested to Faye Winter that her partner Teddy Soares had been unfaithful.
However, this year's series received a staggering9,000 Ofcom complaints regarding bullying last week. So as we wait for the drama-filled finale tonight, here are some of this series' most disturbing moments - starting with fans' fear for Shakira. It comes after one Mirror writer claimed ‘the new Bonnie Blue documentary may be the worst thing I've ever seen on Channel 4’.

Over 9,000 Ofcom complaints amidst 'bullying'
Angry fans got straight on the phone to Ofcom after accusing the Islanders of bullying Shakira. A total of 9,339 complaints were made after viewers lodged formal complaints to the broadcasting watchdog over behaviour within the villa.
Across four episodes on July, a staggering 9,339 complaints were made about the show, with the majority relating to "alleged bullying behaviour towards Shakira".
These included 2,272 complaints made on July 22, around 1,716 complaints made on July 23 and 958 complaints made on July 25 following the aftermath of the Grafties. That week, Shakira was seen struggling with her feelings as she broke things off with then partner Conor, which prompted fan concern. She then burst into tears, admitting her unresolved feelings towards Harry, who was originally coupled up with Shakira before he set his sights on Helena.
An Ofcom press officer also told the Mirror that 56 complaints were received over "alleged bullying involvingToni and Shakira towards Emily" on the ITV dating show on June 20.
Shakira, 22, and Toni, 24, were accused by fans of 'ganging up' on Emily, 24, in 'uncomfortable' scenes in the Spanish villa. Toni accused Emily of being nosy after their unexpected row earlier in the day. Toni was seen chatting to Meg, saying: "I can't listen to her. 'Little Miss Sunshine' all the time." Elsewhere in the episode, Toni said: "Emily's just f**king nosey."
'Disgusting' sex scenes between Meg and DejonLove Island viewers slammed steamy bedroom scenes of Megan and Dejon as 'disgusting' and 'too much' after they kissed and made up following their latest spat.
After making amends following their rollicking row after date night, the pair were filmed getting hot and steamy under the covers, but viewers were less than impressed as they called the scenes 'disgusting'.
Taking to X, horrified fans shared their stern opinions on the villa's least favourite couple, who have now been booted out. "Every time Love Island shows Meg & Dejon getting busy under the sheets, an angel loses its wings," one viewer quipped.
Meanwhile, another fumed: "OMG!! Disgusting! That was literally like soft porn. Why do we need to see this?! Nobody needs to see Meg doing the business."
Claims of misogynistic behaviour
Ofcom received more than 1,000 complaints about 'misogynistic' behaviour by contestants on Love Island in July. In the regulator’s weekly audience report, figures confirmed that more than half of the complaints were made about the show on July 18, which saw Harrison Solomon, 22, and Lauren Wood, 26, leave the Spanish villa together.
Harrison had struck up a connection with pool waitress, Toni Laites, before falling for Lauren in Casa Amor. Unbeknownst to Toni, Harrison slept with Lauren twice, but later rekindled with Toni without informing either of what had transpired in between.
Women’s Aid released a statement the same week, calling out the show for “reinforcing culture trivialising violence against women and girls”. On 20 July, Ofcom said the “majority of complaints related to alleged misogynistic behaviour by Dejon”. Meanwhile, earlier in the week on 15 July, 107 complaints related to “alleged misogynistic behaviour by Harrison".
Over the years, Love Island has introduced extensive duty of care protocols, including providing training and information to Islanders prior to entering the Villa with regards to language, behaviour and understanding mutual respect in relationships.
“I pride myself on standing up for women and being a protector,” Harrison told MailOnline upon his exit from the show. “I have seen the backlash and it’s hard to digest. I would disagree with a lot of it in terms of my respect for women; I do respect women.
“The worst has been from Women’s Aid. I know myself and the girls on the show too. Toni said she knows I’m not a bad person, just went about situations in the wrong way, but the Women’s Aid statement wasn’t nice… It’s not nice coming out of the villa to my mum upset by that, so I would say that’s been the hardest.”
However, Harrison apologised to the “women I’ve hurt”, saying: “I got it wrong and the back and forth between the two connections caused more harm than I ever intended. It wasn’t ever an ego thing. I am not proud of how I handled things, and I’m not going to make excuses."
Harry Cooksley's football team slammed for Shakira videoFarnham Town came under fire after compiling a video of Harry Cooksley's team-mates and manager degrading the two women he has been linked to on Love Island.
The part-time player has caught the eye of both Shakira Khan and Helena Ford among others during his time in the villa. So Harry's club, who play in the Southern Premier League, asked his pals back in the UK which woman he is better suited to.
Even manager Paul Johnson waded in on the TikTok video, musing: "Bin off Shakira, 100 per cent. She's a drip, nosy b***h."
And the comments kept coming as a squad member went on: "Get rid of Shakira, she is as annoying as f**k," as another helpfully mused: "I don't care, just get him back here and get him running."
Helena Ford's 'offensive tweets' resurface
An offensive tweet allegedly made by Love Island's Helena Ford in 2014 resurfaced online last month as a source close to the reality star admits she was 'naive' when she posted it.
Some viewers are demanding that Helena be sent packing over an apparent historic social media post, which has resurfaced from 2014. The tweet, which has since been deleted from her X account and was posted when she was young, read: "All I can hear are these f**king foreign d**kheads."
Meanwhile, the account, which appears to be Helena's, also features a retweeted post that uses the offensive term for a Chinese person, which was posted back in August 2018. "Someone to spoon and half a c****y with every Sunday would be ideal, you can f**k off Monday to Saturday tho x."
When contacted by the Mirror, ITV told us a source close to Helena said: "These tweets are not reflective of the language Helena would use as a 30 year old woman and she would acknowledge she has done a lot of growing up since what she very naively posted over eight years ago."
They also pointed out that as Helena was currently in the villa, she was unable to reply while stating all Islanders have language and behaviour training, which covers race, ethnicity, and microaggressions.
