Liverpool are braced for the potential departure of Harvey Elliott, who has been linked with a move away all summer, and the imminent arrival of Alexander Isak could now see the England star leave.
The Reds have yet to receive a bid for Elliott, but RB Leipzig are interested in the Reds player as a replacement for Xavi Simons, who joined Tottenham last week. Now that Isak is arriving, there is a chance that Elliott will leave by 7pm tonight.
Elliott struggled for opportunities at Liverpool last season and was very much a squad player under Arne Slot with the majority of his minutes coming from the bench. The playmaker enjoyed a stellar U21 Euros with England, being named Player of the Tournament, which has put him in the shop window.
Leipzig's recruitment model has seen them target younger players but Aston Villa are considering a late move to land the 22-year-old, reports the Athletic. The Reds value Elliott in excess of £40million with a buy-back option or above £50m without one.
Those at Villa Park are looking to see if they can structure an agreement that would see them comply with UEFA's regulations. Unai Emery has overseen minimal business such is the club's lack of head room financially.

Elliott may also be further motivated to seek pastures new after seeing Florian Wirtz arrive from Bayer Leverkusen. The German cost £116m and will command a starting spot in a playmaking role, which is where the England star will want to play. Additions to the frontline also increase competition there.
The 22-year-old admitted earlier this summer that he will have to be selfish with his future as he looks to further his own career. He said: “If I had it my way, I would be here for the rest of my career, it’s as simple as that. I love everything about the club. But at the same time, I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what’s best for me.
"I have big ambitions, I want to get in the World Cup [squad], keep being successful as a player. I think it’s still something I need to review, I need to have a talk with everyone and review the situation.
"Obviously we have many new players that have come in, so whether it blocks the path for me, I’m not sure. It’s something for me to decide and have a look at. As I said, just review the situation."
So far this season Elliott has had just one minute of football, coming on in the final moments during the win at Newcastle. He was an unused sub against Bournemouth and Arsenal.
