Big tech major Apple unveiled the latest iPhone 17 range of smartphones at its flagship “Awe Dropping” event in Cupertino on Tuesday (September 9).
The event saw the launch of four different models – iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The new iPhone 17 will be available in India starting at INR 82,900, while iPhone Air will cost nearly INR 1.2 Lakh.
The 256 GB variant of iPhone 17 Pro has been priced at INR 1.35 Lakhs while iPhone 17 Pro Max will start from INR 1.5 Lakh for the basic 256 GB model.
The latest smartphones will hit the shelves in India starting September 19.
Additionally, the company also launched its latest range of Apple Watch and AirPods. Here is a breakdown of the pricing:
- AirPods Pro 3 will be available for INR 25,900
- Apple Watch Ultra 3 will cost INR 89,900 for Indian customers
- Apple Watch Series 11 has been priced at INR 46,900
- Apple Watch SE 3 has a price tag of INR 25,900
Powered by its in-house A19 series chipsets, the new iPhone 17 features a 6.3-inch screen and will include a 48 MP “dual fusion camera” and will be available in five colours.
The big tech major also touted its new iPhone Air, which it claims is its thinnest smartphone till date. iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch super retina XDR display and is powered by its A19 Pro, N1, and C1X chips. It also boasts a 48 MP “fusion main camera” and an 18 MP center stage front camera.
“The all-new iPhone Air is so powerful, yet impossibly thin and light… This huge leap in design and engineering is only made possible through Apple innovation, especially Apple silicon,” Apple’s senior vice-president of hardware engineering John Ternus.
Besides, the company also launched its flagship iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. Both models are powered by the A19 Pro chip, feature three 48 MP fusion cameras and will be available in three colours. While the former has a 6.3-inch screen, the latter has a 6.5-inch screen.
However, there appears no official clarity on whether these new iPhones will be manufactured in India. However, previous reports suggested that the big tech giant was moving the assembly of all upcoming iPhone 17 models to five factories in the country.
If true, this will be the first time that all new iPhone models, including the premium Pro versions, would be manufactured in India from the very outset.
This comes even as the US President Donald Trump has been pushing Apple to manufacture its products in the home country. “If Apple wants to make iPhones for Americans, they should be making them in America, not in China, not in India,” he was previously quoted as saying.
Not just this, he has also imposed nearly 50% tariffs on goods imported from India. Despite this, the big tech giant continues to bolster its production capabilities in the country. The company reportedly hit a record $9 Bn sales in India in FY25, up 13% from $8 Bn in the previous fiscal year.
Recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook also said that India delivered record revenue in the April-June quarter of 2025 on the back of double-digit gains across iPhones, Macs and services. As a result, the company has been shoring up its presence in the country. Last month, the company opened new flagship stores in Bengaluru and Pune.
