In a major move aimed at reducing the financial burden on farmers and simplifying land division procedures, the Revenue Department has taken a significant decision. Henceforth, farmers will be able to avail themselves of land measurement and mapping services for partitioned land (with registered partition deeds) by paying just ₹200 as a measurement fee.
Previously, measurement fees were levied based on directives from the Settlement Commissioner, which often proved costly for farmers. Responding to multiple complaints and suggestions from the farming community, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule spearheaded this important reform.
The decision was finalized during a meeting between the Settlement Commissioner and the Director of Land Acquisition. As per the new guidelines, the ₹200 fee will apply universally, and the service will be available to the general public.
Earlier, the post-partition measurement process in land records (Satbara/7-12 extracts) was complex and time-consuming. The new system simplifies the process, ensuring it is quicker, more affordable, and transparent.
Key Highlights of the New Measurement Process:
All land measurements to be completed within 90 days, replacing the earlier lengthy procedure.
Coordination between 7/12 records and official land maps will be maintained.
Clear recording of boundaries, area, and four-way limits to prevent future disputes.
A simplified, transparent, and fast-track approach to land measurement.
“This decision is aimed at making the land partition process in joint families easier and more cost-effective. It will accelerate the legal division of land across the state,” said Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Revenue Minister.
The reform is expected to benefit millions of farmer families across Maharashtra by making legal land division more accessible and efficient.
