Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Reinforcing its image as a pioneer in green mobility, the Atal Indore City Transport Services Ltd (AICTSL) announced major developments in sustainable transport, intercity connectivity and last-mile access at a key board meeting on Wednesday under the chairmanship of mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav.

The city will soon get 50 new electric buses, adding to the 80 already operating across BRTS and other routes. Under the PM e-Bus scheme, Indore is also set to receive 150 more e-buses.

Two new depots are being constructed at Nayta Mundla and Dewas Naka with full central and state funding to support operations. A helicopter service between Indore and Bhopal is in the planning stage and Expressions of Interest (EOI) will soon be invited.

In a key development, AICTSL and IMC will jointly procure double-decker buses directly, after the earlier tender failed to attract bids.
