Kolkata: Terminated teachers and non-teaching staffs who had hit the streets and was protesting outside SSC building and Derozio and Nivedita Bhawan on Monday are ‘firm’ that they will continue with their sit-in demonstration till they get back their jobs or till they segregate the genuine and tainted candidates.
During the evening, eight representatives of the terminated teachers met the SSC chairperson where according to them they were told that those who have gone till third round of counselling are ‘valid and genuine candidates’.
A protesting teacher said that through such statements, the top officials of the SSC are trying to create ‘divide and rule’ so that their protests end.
Notably, extra police force have been deployed to manage the protesting jobless teaching and non-teaching staff.
Another terminated teacher said that if the state government cannot give back their job, then the government should give them Rs. Two crore rupees as compensation.
“The Chief Minister and the state education minister should come out in open and announce that since they are unable to give back our jobs for which they are giving compensation of Rs. 2 crore rupees. The representatives will continue with their protests inside the SSC office and the remaining will continue the same outside on the road,” said a protesting teacher.
Gobindo Sarkar, a terminated teacher added that their protest is genuine. Sarkar also blamed the state government for their termination.
Another sacked teacher Amit Mondal alleged that the state government is playing ‘divisive’ politics with them.
It can be recalled that state education minister Bratya Basu had earlier said that on April 21 the commission will announce the list segregating the genuine and tainted teachers.
However, till the time of reporting both the teaching and non-teaching staffs are continuing with their protests.
