Today (August 14), we are witnessing one of the biggest box office clashes as Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s War 2 goes head-to-head with Rajinikanth’s Coolie. Both films are currently running in theatres and sending fans into a frenzy with their swag and power-packed performances. As early figures roll in, the battle lines are clearly drawn, and while War 2 has made a solid start, Coolie appears to have taken the lead in the initial race. Though the film is receiving mixed responses from audiences, fans are especially praising the on-screen chemistry between Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan.
War 2 Opening Day Collection
According to early estimates by Sacnilk.com, War 2 earned Rs 10.39 crore in India on its first day across all languages. While this is the interim figure as of now, the final box office collection will be confirmed once the official announcement is made.
Besides this, as reported by Sacnilk, War 2 has registered an impressive Rs 20.49 crore in all-India advance booking collections for Day 1. A bulk of these earnings have come from the Hindi and Telugu markets, thanks to Hrithik Roshan’s North Indian appeal and Jr NTR’s devoted Southern fanbase.
The film’s premium release formats, including IMAX, 4DX, and ICE, have also added majorly to the tally, bringing in an additional Rs 11.59 crore.
Regionally, War 2 is seeing strong traction in Southern India. Andhra Pradesh alone has contributed Rs 8.64 crore through advance bookings, a figure expected to cross Rs 10 crore when blocked seats are included. Telangana follows with Rs 2.61 crore in confirmed sales and a projected total of Rs 5.03 crore. In the Hindi-speaking belt, Maharashtra leads with Rs 2.1 crore, rising to Rs 3.29 crore including blocked seats, while Delhi NCR and Karnataka are close behind with over Rs 1.9 crore each.

However, despite a strong showing, War 2 is currently trailing behind Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which has taken a clear early lead. What’s more striking is that Coolie's Tamil version alone has generated Rs 27.75 crore, surpassing War 2’s total across all languages.
