The Mumbai Police on Monday said that Baba Siddique's son and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique received a death threat via email.
The email said that he would be killed the same way as his father. A demand of Rs 10 crore was made. The sender further said that he would send such emails every six hours, said Mumbai Police.
Previously, the NCP leader received death threat with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan if they failed to pay up Rs 2 crore, an official said.
Baba Siddique was shot dead by three gunmen in the Bandra area on October 12. The Worli police initially registered a case against an unidentified person after receiving the message and launched an investigation. On Wednesday, they arrested Mustafa, a resident of Blue Fame Apartment in Bandra (West), an upscale area where Khan also resides, and recovered the mobile phone and the SIM card used in the crime, said the official.
A special court on Saturday allowed Shehzeen Siddique, the wife of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who was shot dead in October last year, to intervene in the proceedings of his murder case. The 66-year-old NCP politician was fatally shot by three assailants outside his son Zeeshan's office in Mumbai's Bandra (East) area on the night of October 12, 2024.
The police had filed a charge sheet against 26 arrested people, while Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, and two others are wanted accused in the case.
All the accused have been booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and are currently in judicial custody.
