Patna (Bihar) [India], September 26 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday took a sharp dig at RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, and said that he only cared about his family, not the people of Bihar.
Without taking Lalu Yadav's name, Nitish Kumar referred to him that he made his wife Rabri Devi the Chief Minister after stepping down from the post. Nitish said, "We don't just work for our families, we work for all of Bihar."
During the launch of Bihar's Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, Nitish Kumar said, "I want to tell women that a lot of work is being done and the Prime Minister is working for you. The previous government was not for women. Do you know, when he (Lalu Yadav) was removed, he made his wife the Chief Minister. He was concerned about his family. We don't look after our families. We work for the whole of Bihar..."
The Chief Minister said that the state saw real development only after the JD(U)-BJP-led NDA government came to power.
Criticising the previous government, he said no proper work was done earlier, but since 2005, efforts have been made to improve law and order, education, healthcare, and women's empowerment across the state.
"You all know that the previous government didn't do much work, and the situation in Bihar was not good. But since the JD(U), BJP, and NDA government came to power on November 24, 2005, Bihar has been working towards development and improving law and order. Work is being done in every area, whether it's education, healthcare, or anything else. From the beginning, we have given special attention to women's empowerment," Kumar said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Bihar's Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana today via video conferencing.
Under this scheme, Rs 10,000 each is being transferred to the bank accounts of 75 lakh women across Bihar, totalling Rs 7,500 crore.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, the scheme, an initiative of the Government of Bihar, is aimed at making women Aatmanirbhar and promoting women's empowerment through self-employment and livelihood opportunities. It will provide financial assistance to one woman from each family in the state, enabling them to start employment or livelihood activities of their choice, thereby fostering economic independence and social empowerment.
Under the scheme, each beneficiary will receive an initial grant of Rs 10,000 via Direct Benefit Transfer, with the possibility of additional financial support of up to Rs 2 lakh in subsequent phases. The assistance can be utilised in areas of the beneficiary's choice, including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, weaving, and other small-scale enterprises. (ANI)
