WhatsApp is once again stepping up its game by bringing an exciting new feature that could transform the way users interact via status updates. The new addition, titled “Share Topics,” draws heavy inspiration from Instagram’s Add Yours feature, allowing users to initiate interactive topic-based threads directly within their WhatsApp status.
According to the latest leak reported by WABetaInfo, the Share Topics feature has begun appearing for some users in the latest iOS update (version 25.14.77). Here’s everything you need to know about this fun and social update.
💡 What is the “Share Topics” Feature? The Share Topics feature enables users to start a new topic in their WhatsApp Status, to which others from their contact list can respond. Think of it like creating a mini discussion or photo thread — similar to Instagram — where people can contribute their own versions or memories based on the topic.
For example, if a user posts a topic titled “Special Moments”, their friends and contacts can share their personal moments as status responses. These responses will appear as part of a connected visual thread, making it easy to view everyone's contributions around that shared theme.
📱 How It Works-
The feature appears in the WhatsApp Status section under a new tag called “Add Yours”.
-
Users can tap this option to start a topic.
-
Once a topic is created, contacts can tap the same thread and respond with text, images, or videos.
-
Each user’s response becomes a part of the interactive story thread.
This concept has already proven to be popular on Instagram, and its arrival on WhatsApp is likely to encourage more creative and connected status updates among friends, family, and community groups.
🔍 Limited Release, Broader Rollout Coming SoonCurrently, the Share Topics feature is reportedly being tested with a small group of iOS users. However, Meta is expected to roll it out to Android users and all devices worldwide in the near future.
The integration of this feature indicates WhatsApp’s push toward more community-oriented and story-driven features, blurring the lines between traditional messaging and social networking.
